It’s ok to toot your own horn; celebrate yourself
Today will be a day of shopping to spend a gift card that I received for Macy’s.
Giving gift cards is a trend among friends, families, and co-workers. Gift cards eliminate that stress of searching for the right gift, the size, the color, and the time. Gift cards offer a practical alternative for many people. Gift card givers have the option of giving a specialty card to the person’s favorite store or restaurant. My favorite speciality gift card is a Starbucks card. During the holidays and for my birthday, I typically get tons of Starbucks cards. (I don’t think I could ever have enough Starbucks gift cards). Though Starbucks gift cards are my favorite, I love the flexibility of the Visa or American Express gift cards. I’ve purchased everything from groceries, gas, clothes, and even gotten a massage.
What are your favorite gift cards?
What do you use your gift cards for?

I love Ikea
There’s something about decorating and making my space pretty that gives a sense of calm and accomplishment. Decorating and redecorating can become costly if one is not a master of DIY Projects (and I am not). Therefore, I have found a cost-effective, and appeasing alternative – Ikea.

Ikea is:
The Ikea vision is to create a better everyday life for the many people. We make this possible by offering a wide range of well-designed, functional home furnishing products at prices so low that as many people as possible will be able to afford them.
I was first introduced to Ikea in 1997 or so shortly after graduating from college (undergrad). I went to the store with my friend who had also just graduated and decorated her new space with cute items from Ikea. As we drove up to the big blue box with yellow letters, I didn’t feel any excitement but when I walked through the doors, the decade long love affair began. I only knew of Ikea from decorating shows, mainly Trading Places. Now, I am very acquainted with Ikea and spent the night under the stars for the grand opening of Ikea in Atlanta. My mom and I were among the first 100 and won lovely Poang Chairs.
Nonetheless, Ikea is a happy place. A place to browse, a place to buy, and a place to dine.

crusty feet are bad
the crust just makes me so sad
do a pedi fresh
Have you had that not so fresh feeling during the second week of your pedicure?
Do you want to do something about it?
WELL…Blissful Feet Pod created a super discount brand of the Pedi-Egg to maintain your feet in between or instead of professional services. This small dome apparatus is similar to a mini cheese grater which lightly shaves the crust skin build up from your heels.
My opinion; it’s ok. It does a small job and not recommended for high crustified calused feet. See results below.

“LisaRaye meets Michael Jackson thus this outfit”
Maybe it’s me, but Sistergirl LisaRaye created a wide obsession with wearing white with some folks me. I literally heave in anticipation of summer, so I can be tricked out in white for the better part of three months. I don’t have as much white as LisaRaye YET but I’m working on it. So, in the meantime, LisaRaye gels with MJ thus this week’s episode of Too Cute Tuesday (TM).

Different strokes for different folks when it comes to dieting. There are some lucky ducks in the world who are able to consume, whatever, whenever yet maintain good health and wellness. Then, there’s the rest of us. Many people have to follow a specific diet coupled with exercise to have it going on health and an sexy body attractive appearance.
As we age, our metabolism changes and we must adapt our lifestyles accordingly. For some with specific health conditions, lifestyles are acutely adapted to maintain health and an attractive appearance (there’s a recurring theme).
Women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) often have insulin resistance which makes them (us) very sensitive to carbs. We have to maintain a low carb diet in order to stabilize blood sugar, weight, and the awful side of effects of the disease. With that, selecting foods that mimic some of our favorites is essential for sanity normalcy.

One of the biggest NO NO’s with PCOS is a large consumption of bread. The whites (bread, pasta, potatoes) greatly and negatively impact blood sugar which in turn impacts weight, appearance, and overall health.
Because I love hamburgers so much, I couldn’t dare cut this item from my diet, therefore, I found an alternative; low carb buns made with Wal-Mart brand premade sliders. (I don’t think I used the Wal-Mart one in this picture).
Eat up and enjoy.
